Italy agri-food exports reach record 72 billion euros in 2025
The Italian agri-food sector reached significant milestones in 2025, characterized by strong export performance and increased value added. According to a report by the Research Centre on Policies and Bioeconomy (CREA), agri-food exports reached 72 billion euros, representing a 5.6% increase. Exports of products recognized as typical ‘Made in Italy’ reached 52.2 billion euros.
Regional performance was notable, with Calabria and Sicily seeing growth of 10.2% and 12.8% respectively. While exports to the United States saw a 4.2% contraction, totaling 7.55 billion euros, the sector remains competitive despite geopolitical tensions and trade tariffs. The report also highlighted a trade imbalance with the Mercosur region, noting 3.7 billion euros in imports against 500 million euros in exports.
Additional data indicates the sector generated 89 billion euros in value added in 2025, accounting for 4.4% of Italy's national value added. Government officials attributed this growth to policies aimed at strengthening supply chains, defending farmers' incomes, and promoting high-quality production on international markets.
