Italy allocates €32 million for industrial property rights

The Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy has announced €32 million in funding to support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in protecting and valuing their industrial property. The funding is divided into three specific programs: €20 million for ‘Brevetti+’ to support the economic valuation of patents through non-repayable grants for specialist services; €10 million for ‘Disegni+’ to support the valuation of designs and models; and €2 million for ‘Marchi+’ to assist with international trademark registration through EUIPO and WIPO.

Applications for ‘Brevetti+’ open on November 25, ‘Marchi+’ on December 3, and ‘Disegni+’ on December 17. The programs will be managed by Invitalia and Unioncamere.

In the Ferrara and Ravenna regions, patent activity is showing growth. In 2024, 51 patent applications were published by the European Patent Office (EPO) for these areas, an 8.5% increase compared to 2023. Currently, there are 751 European-protected patents originating from these cities, with the industrial and transport sectors accounting for 57% of inventive capacity.
