Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani led a high-level delegation to Cairo to strengthen the strategic partnership between Italy and Egypt. A central component of the visit is a new agreement aimed at managing migration flows by increasing regular, legal entries while simultaneously combating irregular migration and human trafficking.

The agreement focuses on professional training for Egyptian youth to meet the specific labor demands of Italian companies. This initiative, aligned with the Mattei Plan for Africa, includes technical and professional training in strategic sectors such as mechatronics, biomedicine, pharmaceuticals, energy, and life sciences. Currently, 10 active projects in Egypt involve over 1,100 workers.

Economic cooperation remains a priority, with Italian exports to Egypt rising by 17% over the last six months. The mission included a Business Forum featuring hundreds of companies and over a thousand bilateral meetings to foster investment in energy, green transition, and infrastructure. Italy has set an export target of 700 billion by the end of next year.
