Italy and France launch International Addiction Prevention summit in San Patrignano

Italy and France, co‑founders of the European Coalition Against Drugs (ECAD) which includes 35 nations, are organising an International Meeting on Prevention and Recovery from Addictions for 23 October 2026 in San Patrignano near Rimini. The event will bring together ministers, authorities, representatives of European and international organisations and high‑profile experts to discuss best practices for prevention, care, recovery and social reintegration, with a focus on young people and vulnerable groups.

The summit is coordinated by the Italian Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council, Alfredo Mantovano, and is supported by joint invitation letters from Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and French President Emmanuel Macron addressed to heads of state, governments and coalition partners, totaling 47 delegations. A final document will be adopted to set operational directions for the coalition in the coming years, following the objectives defined at the second ECAD meeting in Yerevan. San Patrignano was chosen as a concrete example of a leading recovery and reintegration programme.
