Italy and Indonesia Boost Leather Fashion Collaboration at IFW 2026

During Indonesia Fashion Week 2026, Italy and Indonesia deepened cooperation to elevate Indonesia's local leather industry. Trade Commissioner Dr. Paolo Pinto of the Italian Trade Agency highlighted Indonesia's large production capacity but limited export reach, noting that Italian technology and expertise can raise standards and open international markets. The initiative, organized by ASSOMAC and the Italian Trade Agency, brought together Italian delegations, Indonesian manufacturers, industry associations, and government representatives for meetings, knowledge exchange, and business matchmaking.

The collaboration aims to improve production technology, quality standards, and workforce skills, enabling Indonesian leather goods—such as bags, shoes, and accessories—to compete globally. ASSOMAC General Manager Agostino Apolito emphasized the need for technology to advance alongside human resource development, fostering broader market access for Indonesian leather products.
