Italy and Kazakhstan to strengthen energy and trade ties

Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani met with Kazakh Foreign Minister Ermek Koshyrbaev to discuss strengthening economic and energy cooperation between the two nations. The discussions focused on enhancing economic partnerships, energy security, and strategic policies regarding Central Asia.

A key priority identified was the continuous transport of Kazakh oil through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC). Tajani emphasized that uninterrupted oil flows are vital for both regional stability and European energy security, particularly amid rising tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

To further economic ties, both parties plan to organize a new business forum to boost exports for Italian and Kazakh companies. Additionally, Italy expressed interest in organizing a ministerial meeting with the five Central Asian states to deepen political and economic relations in the region. The meeting also included discussions regarding the war in Ukraine.
