During an official visit to Kuwait City, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met with Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in defense, energy, and investment. The meeting, attended by Kuwait’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, resulted in the adoption of an Action Plan for 2027–2030 aimed at strengthening political dialogue, security, and energy transition.

Several strategic agreements were signed to bolster industrial and military ties. These include a memorandum of understanding between the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority and the Italian Trade Agency to encourage direct investment. In the defense sector, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense and Leonardo Spa signed a letter of intent to develop defense capabilities and industrial cooperation. Additionally, a memorandum was established between the Kuwait National Guard and the Italian Carabinieri for military training and advisory services.

On the economic front, discussions addressed energy stability, with reports indicating Kuwaiti availability to support measures to manage fuel costs. This visit follows recent political consultations held in September and builds upon long-standing military ties, including Kuwait’s 2016 acquisition of Eurofighter Typhoon jets through an Italian-led program.
