Italy and San Marino implement new sector-specific regulations

Italy has implemented Legislative Decree no. 151/2026, establishing a unified regulatory framework for the floriculture and nursery sector. Effective from August 27, the decree defines agricultural floriculture activities, including ornamental, fruit, viticultural, forestry, and horticultural production. It also clarifies connected activities such as green space maintenance and commercialization. New provisions allow for seven-year framework agreements in public tenders for floriculture cultivation contracts, providing greater production stability.

In San Marino, a new system has been launched to recognize and protect historical workshops (Botteghe Storiche) and local productions. Following the ratification of a Delegated Decree, an official registry will be established to certify businesses that demonstrate at least 50 years of continuous operation in the same location, with specific exceptions for taverns and wine bars. An independent commission will evaluate candidates based on their cultural, architectural, and traditional significance to the Republic to ensure the preservation of local economic heritage.
