Italy announces 2027 study leave deadlines for school staff

Italian teaching, educational, and administrative (ATA) staff have been notified of the provisions regarding paid extraordinary leave for the right to study for the 2027 calendar year. Eligible personnel may be granted up to 150 individual hours per year to attend recognized study and training courses, including university degrees, master's programs, professional qualifications, and teaching specializations.

To utilize these hours in 2027, interested staff must submit their applications by November 15, 2026. Applications must be officially registered with the school's protocol by this deadline to avoid forfeiture. This includes staff on fixed-term contracts appointed through June or August 2027. Those hired after the November deadline may apply within five days of their contract signing.

Approved courses must lead to qualifications from state-recognized institutions. Specific regional regulations may apply to online or distance learning formats.
