Italy announces National Dementia Plan 2027-2031

Senator Michaela Biancofiore has expressed support for the new National Dementia Plan 2027-2031 announced by Health Minister Orazio Schillaci. Highlighting that approximately 1.2 million people in Italy live with dementia, with over half suffering from Alzheimer's, Biancofiore emphasized that the burden of care should not fall solely on families.

The senator called for increased support for caregivers, including enhanced home assistance, easier access to diagnoses, and psychological support. She also urged for stable funding within the upcoming budget law to ensure continuity of care and to reduce regional disparities in service availability.
