Italy announces textbook subsidies for 2026-2027 school year

Regional authorities in Italy have announced new subsidy programs to assist families with the cost of textbooks and educational materials for the 2026-2027 school year.

In the Umbria region, including municipalities such as Orvieto, grants are available for middle and high school students from families with an ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator) not exceeding €15,493.71. Applications must be submitted to the student's municipality of residence by October 7, 2026. Applicants must provide proof of expenditure, such as receipts, and an IBAN for reimbursement.

In Emilia-Romagna, specifically for residents of Reggiolo, the program targets students up to age 24 (with exceptions for students with certified disabilities). The initiative covers national school students, those in vocational training (IeFP), and those participating in parental education. Eligibility is based on two ISEE tiers: the first tier ranges from €0 to €10,632.94, and the second from €10,632.95 to €15,748.78. Applications for this region can be submitted online via the ER.GO Scuola platform starting September 4, 2026.
