Italy appoints Marco Rago as special envoy for international water policies

Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has appointed lawyer Marco Rago as the Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for international water policies.

Addressing the challenges of drought, rising temperatures, and groundwater evaporation, Tajani stated that water management is one of the most significant European and international challenges. Rago will be tasked with promoting Italian diplomatic action for the sustainable management of water resources, emphasizing the strategic links between water, energy, agriculture, and the environment. He will represent Italy in major multilateral forums.

As part of this initiative, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host the first Euro-Mediterranean Water Forum in Rome on September 29.
