Italy appoints new directors for oncology unit in Avellino and primary‑care unit in Asolo

Dr. Giuseppe Santabarbara has been appointed director of the Complex Operational Unit of Oncology at the Frangipane‑Bellizzi Hospital in Ariano Irpino, Avellino. The five‑year appointment follows a public competition and is intended to strengthen the regional oncology network. Santabarbara, a specialist born in 1981, previously worked at the AORN “San Giuseppe Moscati” in Avellino and has coordinated multidisciplinary oncology groups for colon‑rectal, hepatocellular and cholangiocarcinoma cancers. He has also participated in numerous national and international clinical trials on immunotherapy and targeted therapies. The ASL Avellino director‑general, Maria Concetta Conte, said the new director “represents a fundamental step for strengthening the assistance offer within the Campania oncology network.”

Dr. Cristina Bullo has been named director of the Complex Operational Unit of Primary Care for the Asolo district. Bullo, who previously led the primary‑care unit at ULSS 1 Dolomiti, holds a medical degree from the University of Padua and multiple master’s qualifications in vascular medicine, palliative care, and health‑service management. Her career includes experience in internal medicine, emergency care, and a 2017‑2018 project in Mozambique with AICS and CUAMM. She has also served on regional strategic working groups for diagnostic‑therapeutic pathways and territorial health networks. The appointment aims to reinforce primary‑care services in the Veneto region.
