Italy archaeological sites host special nighttime tours for European Heritage Days
In celebration of the European Heritage Days, several major archaeological sites in Italy are hosting special nighttime openings on September 26.
The Baths of Caracalla in Rome will offer a “Notturno Imperiale” experience. This evening tour features specialized lighting to highlight the monumental structures and provides access to underground areas, including the service structures, the Antiquarium, and the Mithraeum. While several previous dates for this initiative have already sold out, the September 26 event will feature a symbolic entry fee of 1 euro.
Similarly, the Herculaneum Archaeological Park will host an evening event on September 26, transforming the ancient city into an open-air stage. The program includes seven recurring performances consisting of dance, music, and theater set among the ancient streets and domus. Due to capacity limits, attendance is restricted to 600 visitors per shift, and tickets are priced at 1 euro.
