Italy archaeological sites offer free admission on November 4

Various archaeological parks across Sicily and Campania will offer free admission to the public on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. This initiative commemorates the Day of National Unity and the Armed Forces and is part of a broader program of free cultural access promoted by the Ministry of Culture.

In Sicily, the free entry applies to 14 regional archaeological parks, including the Valley of the Temples, Segesta, Selinunte, and the Aeolian Islands. Other participating sites include Syracuse, Taormina, Morgantina, and Villa Romana del Casale, among others, covering a wide range of Greek, Roman, and prehistoric heritage.

In Campania, the Herculaneum Archaeological Park will also open its gates for free. Visitors can enter between 8:30 and 17:00, with the final entry permitted at 15:30. The site, preserved by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, offers access to exceptionally preserved Roman structures, including mosaics and domestic interiors.
