Italy advances major road and bridge projects in Messina, Caltanissetta and Brescia

The regional public works authority for Sicily‑Calabria has opened a European tender for the completion and seismic upgrade of the O and P ramps of the Giostra viaduct in Messina. Ingegneria Costruzioni Colombrita won the contract worth just over €3.3 million, moving the long‑delayed work toward opening a key north‑city link that has been idle since 2009.

In Caltanissetta, ANAS issued a €57.98 million tender to rebuild the San Giuliano viaduct on State Road 640, part of a total investment of €72.45 million. The new 1.134‑km steel‑concrete structure will restore a main access road that has been closed since the demolition of the former bridge in 2017.

In the Brescia province, the Greenway Valtrompia cycle‑pedestrian path remains closed at the Crocevia section in Sarezzo until the end of August. The extension follows repeated postponements of works on a new highway slip‑road connecting the A4 to Valtrompia, forcing cyclists and pedestrians to use detours.
