Italy Budget Law sparks debate over wages and art donations

The upcoming Italian Budget Law has become a focal point for political and cultural concerns. Deputy Fabrizio Benzoni of Azione has called for the law to prioritize wages and purchasing power. His proposals include reducing the tax wedge, providing tax breaks for new hires under the age of 35, and implementing measures to lower energy costs for families and businesses.

Simultaneously, philanthropist Roberto Bilotti has warned that changes to the 2025 Budget Law regarding tax deductions for art donations could harm the nation's cultural heritage. Bilotti argues that the reduction or abolition of these deductions may discourage private individuals from donating artworks to public entities, potentially driving international masterpieces by artists such as Picasso and Matisse toward foreign institutions.
