Italy bus crash on Terni‑Rieti road claims seven lives

On 2 August a shuttle bus collided with a camper on state road 79 (Terni‑Rieti) between Colli sul Velino and Piediluco, near the Lazio‑Umbria border. The crash killed the bus driver, Federico Romualdi, and later the passenger Massimiliano Cherubini, raising the death toll to seven. Cherubini’s wife, Stefania Laurenzi, also died in the impact, while their two daughters (21 and 27) were injured but not seriously. Cherubini was identified after rescuers noted a tattoo bearing his daughters’ names. Funeral services for Romualdi were held in the church of Santa Maria Assunta in Torre Orsina, attended by local officials and community members. Cherubini’s funeral took place at Santa Maria della Misericordia in Perugia, where he had been treated in intensive care before his death.
