Italy car insurance premiums face potential increases

Car insurance premiums in Italy are facing potential increases, with consumer associations reporting possible annual rises of 6% to 10%. These hikes are driven by the rising costs of spare parts and repairs, as well as specific risk assessment criteria used by insurance companies.

Drivers are advised to review their policies during renewal to avoid paying for redundant coverage or unsuitable driving formulas. For instance, opting for restricted driver profiles instead of free driving can reduce costs, while installment plans may increase the total amount paid due to interest and fees.

In the Tuscany region, despite a 4.5% year-on-year decrease in average premiums to €662.92, the area remains among the most expensive in Italy. Significant regional disparities exist: Prato recorded the highest average premium at €907.84, while Siena offered the lowest at €554.48.
