Italy celebrates 705 years of Dante Alighieri with regional festivals

Various regions in Italy are organizing cultural events to commemorate the 705th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri.

In Ravenna, celebrations are scheduled from September 12 to 14. The program includes readings of the 'Divine Comedy' at Dante's tomb and the Basilica of San Francesco. Notable participants include art historian Tomaso Montanari and writer Davide Rondoni. The city also continues its 'perpetual reading' project, which has been sharing the poet's work with the community since 2020.

In Calabria, the 'Nel Nome di Dante' festival is planned for September 18 to 20 in Cerenzia. The event is inspired by the novel 'Il Luogo delle Anime' by Coriolano Martirano, which explores the literary suggestion of Dante staying in the Sila region during his exile. The festival aims to connect humanist culture with modern themes such as science, innovation, and entrepreneurship, while promoting the cultural identity of the Calabrian territory.
