Italy celebrates historical figures through new literature and sensory theater
New cultural initiatives in Italy are highlighting the lives of historical figures through different mediums. A new book, “Bartali – L’uomo e lo sportivo” published by Edizioni Ares, offers a fresh perspective on the legendary cyclist Gino Bartali, tracing his life from his birth in Ponte a Ema in 1914 to his death in Florence in 2000.
In Caprera, the “Garibaldi intimo” theatrical performance is part of the Be in the Move international festival. This olfactory theater experience uses scents, dance, and poetry to reconstruct the daily life and private habits of Giuseppe Garibaldi at the Casa Bianca, the residence where he lived for nearly thirty years. The event aims to connect the historical greatness of the figure to his human daily gestures.
