Italy celebrates regional Civil Protection Days

Regional Civil Protection Days were held in Italy to honor volunteers and promote disaster prevention awareness.

In Lombardy, the 2026 Regional Civil Protection Day took place at Milan's Idroscalo Park. The event featured the Giuseppe Zamberletti Award, which was presented to the Milan Civil Protection Volunteer Corps for their fifty years of service and to Flavia Moro of the Bollate Operational Emergency Team for her work in volunteer training. The ceremony also honored the memory of Adriano Pipitone, a long-time official for the Province of Milan.

In Sardinia, the first regional Civil Protection Day was organized in Cagliari. The event included a Civil Protection Village at the Lazzaretto, showcasing emergency equipment such as ambulances, field kitchens, fire suppression drones, and canine units. The program featured workshops on climate change adaptation, wildfire management, and hydrogeological risks, alongside demonstrations aimed at educating citizens and schools on community safety.
