Italy coastal rescues increase due to heavy swells and currents

Multiple maritime rescue operations have been conducted along the Italian coast due to dangerous sea conditions and strong currents.

In Capo Vaticano, two tourists were stranded on a rocky outcrop near the Grotta del Palombaro after being caught by heavy swells. The Vibo Valentia Fire Department, including specialized aquatic and Speleo Alpino Fluviale (SAF) units, performed a complex rescue by swimming to the individuals and guiding them back to shore via a makeshift path.

In the Capaccio Paestum region, lifeguards have responded to numerous emergencies. In a single 24-hour period, eleven rescues were recorded across various locations, including Torre di Mare and the Laura beach. Among these interventions, six people were rescued simultaneously in Torre di Mare. Additionally, three foreign residents were saved from strong currents near Lido Brigantino through a coordinated effort between lifeguards from Lido Brigantino and Lido Venere, who utilized rescue equipment to bring them safely to the beach.
