Italy commemorates 25 years since September 11 attacks

Italy marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks with various commemorative events across Rome and the Lazio coast.

In Rome, the American Studies Center will host a presentation of Paolo Messa’s book, ‘L’Occidente è vivo. W l’Occidente’, to discuss the geopolitical consequences of the attacks and the state of modern democracies. Additionally, the Sant’Egidio Community will hold a prayer vigil at the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere, featuring US Ambassador to the Holy See Brian Burch. The Museo di Roma in Trastevere is also hosting a photography exhibition by Matilde Damele, which captures the collapse of the Twin Towers.

In Nettuno, a commemorative ceremony will take place at the square dedicated to the victims of September 11, located near the American Cemetery.
