Italy commemorates 82nd anniversaries of WWII partisan massacres
Commemorations are being held across Italy to mark the 82nd anniversaries of significant World War II partisan massacres.
In Tredozio, ceremonies are concluding to honor the members of the Brigata Corbari who were captured and killed by Nazi-fascist forces in August 1944. The events include a memorial Mass at the San Michele parish church and an official ceremony in Piazza Vespignani. The commemorations honor partisans Adriano Casadei, Silvio Corbari, Arturo Spazzoli, and Iris Versari, who were executed following the massacre at Ca’ Cornio and San Valentino.
In Ravenna, preparations are underway for the 82nd anniversary of the Ponte dei Martiri massacre. On August 25, 1944, twelve partisans were killed in a fascist reprisal. The upcoming memorial service will include the laying of wreaths at the monument to Don Giovanni Minzoni in Piazza Garibaldi, followed by a tribute to local heroes at the Guido Novello middle school. The evening will conclude at the Ponte dei Martiri with a theatrical performance titled ‘L’Idea vive’, involving local youth to help preserve the historical memory of the Resistance.
