Anas announces 47.9 billion euro investment plan for Southern Italy
Anas CEO Claudio Andrea Gemme has announced a multi-year investment plan of 47.9 billion euros for Southern Italy and the islands to bolster regional competitiveness and accessibility. Of this total, 40.5 billion euros are earmarked for new infrastructure projects, while 7.4 billion euros are designated for scheduled maintenance.
The strategy aims to transform the Mezzogiorno into a central logistics hub within the Mediterranean and European transport networks. Key focus areas include strengthening connections between ports, industrial areas, and Special Economic Zones (ZES).
In the Puglia region specifically, Anas has programmed over 3.8 billion euros in investments, consisting of 3.472 billion euros for new works and 366 million euros for maintenance. The plan also incorporates nearly 21 billion euros in commissar-led works to accelerate strategic national infrastructure development.
