Italy commits €8 million aid and medical teams to earthquake‑hit Venezuela
The Italian government responded to the devastating earthquake in Venezuela by dispatching Civil Protection units and medical personnel, establishing a field medical post in the affected area. An emergency fund of €8 million was allocated, to be managed through the Red Cross, ensuring that the resources reach those most in need.
In parallel, the Italian Catholic Church organized a nationwide collection on 26 July, coordinated by Caritas Italia and the CEI, to raise additional material aid. The funds and donations will be sent to Caritas Venezuela to support distribution of water, food, hygiene kits, medicines and psychosocial assistance to displaced families, children, the elderly and vulnerable individuals.
