Italy cycling routes explore Euganean Hills and Friuli Venezia Giulia
Italy offers diverse cycling itineraries that traverse unique geological and historical landscapes. In the Veneto region, the E2 cycling loop covers 63 kilometers around the Euganean Hills. This route connects thermal areas like Abano Terme and Montegrotto with historical sites such as the Abbey of Praglia, Villa dei Vescovi, and the medieval towns of Este and Monselice. The landscape is characterized by volcanic hills, vineyards, and ancient Roman thermal springs.
In the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, cyclists can explore the Carnia area and the Alpe Adria Cycle Path, which links Salzburg to Grado. Starting from Udine, routes lead through the fortified medieval town of Venzone—a symbol of reconstruction following the 1976 earthquake—and along the Tagliamento river, noted as one of Europe’s last wild rivers. The region is recognized for its bike-friendly infrastructure and varied terrain ranging from alpine valleys to coastal plains.
