Italy cycling routes feature scenic nature paths and coastal trails

Italy offers diverse scenic cycling routes ranging from tranquil nature paths in the Pavia region to coastal trails along the Adriatic Sea.

In the Pavia area, cyclists can explore the Alzaia del Ticino, a 22 km shaded path through the Lombardy Ticino Valley Park, or the Bosco Grande–Bosco Negri loop, which offers forest trails ideal for families. Other options include the flat rice fields of Lomellina between Mortara and Castello d’Agogna, and the riverbanks of the Po near Portalbera and Arena Po.

Along the Adriatic coast, the Via Verde provides a 42 km flat route built on a former railway line. This coastal path features views of the Trabocchi and historical landmarks such as the Aragonese Castle in Ortona. Travelers are advised to plan stops based on lighting, elevation, and available services like water and shade to make the most of the coastal scenery.
