Italy dental care access shows generational and regional gaps
A Key-Stone survey commissioned by DentalPro reveals significant disparities in dental care access in Italy. According to the data, 57% of individuals over the age of 60 did not visit a dentist in the last year, compared to 29% of Gen Z. Overall, 41% of respondents reported no dental visits within the last twelve months, a figure that remains stable compared to 2025.
Geographic differences are also evident, with 47% of people in Southern Italy and the Islands reporting no dental visits in the past year, while the figure is 38% in the North. The report emphasizes that regular dental check-ups are vital for preventing serious conditions, including oral cancers affecting the tongue, gums, and palate. In Italy, there are an estimated 9,750 new diagnoses of head and neck cancers annually.
