Italy deploys new prison police personnel to regional facilities
The Italian government has announced the deployment of new prison police personnel to various regions. In the Abruzzo and Molise areas, 50 new units will be assigned to address organizational deficits and overcrowding, including staff for a new pavilion in Sulmona. However, Mauro Nardella, national secretary of the Cnpp Spp union, criticized the number as insufficient, noting that it represents only a small fraction of the 1,295 new recruits expected from training courses and fails to account for recent retirements in facilities like Vasto.
In Emilia-Romagna, 16 new agents are being assigned to the Arginone prison in Ferrara. This is part of a larger deployment of 66 new agents to the region from the 186th training course. Undersecretary to Justice Alberto Balboni stated that these reinforcements demonstrate the government's commitment to supporting staff working in difficult conditions and enhancing local security.
