Italy discusses prisoner rehabilitation and social reintegration strategies

Discussions regarding the implementation of Law 140/2026, which focuses on prisoner rehabilitation and social reintegration, have taken place through various institutional and community forums in Italy.

At a roundtable hosted by Ce. I. S. in Ambrosini, Alfredo Mantovano, Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, emphasized the necessity of moving from legislation to concrete implementation. The event brought together therapeutic communities, institutions, and services to discuss strategies for effective recovery and reintegration.

Additionally, the Expo Art. 27 festival in Cuneo highlighted the role of vocational training and the prison economy. The ABF organization presented the Ricucendo Tex Lab project, which focuses on creating training and employment pathways for inmates. The initiative emphasizes the importance of networking between organizations and businesses to facilitate the transition from prison to the workforce.
