Italian beauty publications report a shift toward sustainable sun protection, highlighting mineral‑based sunscreens that use zinc oxide and titanium dioxide as “mirrors” to reflect UV rays. These formulations are enriched with botanical extracts, vitamins and avoid synthetic preservatives, aiming to reduce skin irritation and lessen marine pollution caused by conventional chemical filters.

Self‑tanning products have also evolved, with modern formulas pairing dihydroxyacetone (DHA) with erythrulose to deliver a more natural, gradual colour that mimics the skin’s own pigment. Added ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, peptides and lightweight textures improve hydration and longevity. The trend is amplified by TikTok, where “#SelfTanning” videos generate billions of views, and experts advise using SPF alongside self‑tanners and following proper exfoliation and moisturising steps for optimal results.
