Italy espresso prices rise 24% since 2021

A study by the Centro di formazione e ricerca sui consumi (Crc), in collaboration with Assoutenti, reveals that the average price of an espresso in Italy has risen to 1.29 euros, marking a 24.2% increase since 2021.

Prices vary significantly across the country. Bolzano is the most expensive city with an average of 1.51 euros, followed by Pescara at 1.49 euros. Conversely, Messina is the most affordable at 1.06 euros, with Catanzaro following at 1.08 euros. Several provinces, including Trento, Trieste, and Parma, have seen prices exceed the 1.40 euro threshold.

Regional data shows that Lombardy remains relatively more affordable compared to the rest of Italy. In Lombardy, Cremona and Brescia share a price of 1.30 euros, while Varese is among the lower-priced cities in the region at 1.19 euros. Notable price hikes have been recorded in Pescara (+49%), Parma (+41%), and Bari (+39.5%), while Aosta has seen a more modest increase of 6.7%.
