Italy expands autism support through new centers and regional vouchers

New initiatives are expanding support and social inclusion for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and neurodevelopmental disorders in Italy.

A new center, TMA 5.0, is opening in Arezzo to serve approximately eighty young people. Utilizing the Caputo-Ippolito multisystemic treatment method, the facility aims to improve emotional regulation, manage behavioral issues, and reduce social isolation. The center provides a global approach that includes educational paths and motor activities, expanding on previous aquatic-based therapies to offer services in diverse contexts.

In the Abruzzo region, the Ambito Distrettuale Sociale n. 16, led by the Municipality of Spoltore, has launched a public notice to establish a catalog of qualified providers for autism-related interventions. Funded by the Single Fund for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities, the program includes the distribution of individual vouchers worth up to 1,200 euros. These vouchers allow families to access various activities, such as summer camps, sports, artistic workshops, and facilitated socialization programs, to promote autonomy and community participation.
