Italy expands judicial proximity offices to improve citizen access

New proximity justice offices are being established in Italy to bring judicial services closer to citizens, particularly in remote or underserved areas.

In the Amalfi Coast region, the Salerno Court is opening a new office in Minori. This initiative, a collaboration between the Municipality of Minori, the Salerno Court, and the Campania Region, aims to serve approximately 18,300 residents across seven municipalities: Minori, Maiori, Cetara, Conca dei Marini, Ravello, Scala, and Tramonti. The office will provide orientation, information on legal protections, and support for administrative procedures.

Similarly, in Sicily, the Agrigento Court has introduced three proximity offices in Campobello di Licata, Racalmuto, and Raffadali. This project is supported by the Sicilian Region and the Ministry of Justice. The initiative is designed to overcome geographical challenges and connectivity difficulties in inland and mountainous areas, ensuring that vulnerable citizens can more easily access legal services.
