Italy expands local healthcare network with new community health centers

New community health centers, known as ‘Casa di Comunità’, are being established in different regions of Italy to strengthen local healthcare assistance.

In Prato, Tuscany, the Asl Toscana centro commission has selected a site in the Fabbricone area for a new health hub. The project, proposed by Balli Holding, involves constructing a new building between via Galilei, via Terracini, and via Abati. This initiative is part of a broader urban regeneration plan supported by the Municipality of Prato, the Tuscany Region, and European Fesr 2021-2027 funds. Additionally, the health authority is seeking a property in Prato south for another community hub.

In the Valdaso area of Fermo, Marche, a newly renovated community health center has been inaugurated. The 1,650-square-meter facility was developed with a 1.6 million euro investment, largely funded by the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan). The center aims to provide proximity care, including specialist and diagnostic services, to ensure healthcare reaches citizens in internal areas.
