Italy expands ‘Mai bandiera bianca’ campaign against gender violence
The national awareness campaign ‘Mai bandiera bianca’ (Never a White Flag) is expanding its reach across Italy to combat gender-based violence and discrimination. The initiative is a collaboration between the National Association of Italian Municipalities (ANCI) and the Department for Equal Opportunities of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
In Messina, the municipal administration has joined the campaign by displaying a banner on the facade of Palazzo Zanca to signal institutional commitment to preventing violence against women. Local officials emphasized that the move is intended to promote a culture of respect and strengthen institutional networks for inclusive policies.
In Ferrara, the campaign has extended its focus to the agricultural sector. Local agricultural associations, including Coldiretti, Confagricoltura, and CIA, have embraced the initiative. Representatives noted that supporting women in agriculture is essential for modernization and social progress, highlighting the importance of addressing discrimination within the industry.
