Italy expands professional training for the yachting industry

New initiatives are emerging in Italy to address the growing demand for specialized skills within the yachting and maritime industries. TYT – True Yachting Training, a joint venture between NAVIGO and Fondazione ISYL ITS Academy, has been launched to provide continuous professional development. The program aims to support the entire career path, from technical roles in shipyards and refit services—such as carpenters, joiners, and painters—to executive and managerial positions.

TYT’s curriculum includes modern requirements such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, sustainability, and business management. Additionally, in Genoa, Mayor Silvia Salis has proposed strengthening the link between tourism education and maritime needs. This initiative seeks to prepare young professionals for international onboard service roles by combining hospitality, foreign languages, and technical nautical knowledge to improve the attractiveness of maritime careers.
