Italy expands proximity justice offices to Cattolica and Sciacca
The Italian Ministry of Justice is expanding its ‘proximity offices’ project to bring judicial services closer to citizens, particularly those in remote areas or vulnerable populations.
A new office is set to open in Cattolica at the municipal headquarters on October 26. This service provides free assistance for matters such as requests for support administrators, guardianship authorizations, and other voluntary jurisdiction practices, allowing citizens to manage legal paperwork without traveling to a courthouse. The initiative is part of a broader project funded by the European Union.
In Sciacca, the project is being implemented by the Sicilian Region with support from Formez. These local service points are connected to competent courts and offer guidance and assistance for legal procedures that do not require a lawyer, enabling the filing of petitions and appeals locally.
