Italy expels Albanian national over planned terror attack
An Albanian national, aged 22, has been expelled from Italy following an investigation into potential terrorist activities. The individual was intercepted by Digos and immigration officers upon arrival at Treviso’s Canova Airport on a flight from Tirana.
Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi stated that the individual intended to acquire materials to manufacture explosives and plan an attack in Italy, with a shopping center identified as a probable target. Investigators believe the suspect underwent radicalization online and had already purchased some materials necessary for constructing an explosive device.
Veneto President Alberto Stefani emphasized the importance of security, stating that the community will not accept being a target of terrorism and that the region will continue to combat such threats at all costs.
