ATM bombings reported in Belvedere and Manfredonia
A series of explosive attacks on ATMs has been reported across several Italian locations, notably in the province of Siracusa and Manfredonia. In Belvedere, an explosive device detonated at a Monte dei Paschi di Siena branch during the night, causing significant structural damage and leaving the local community without banking services. Local officials have called on Poste Italiane to install a Postamat to ensure residents, particularly the elderly, can still access cash.
This incident follows a pattern of similar crimes in the Siracusa region, including previous attacks in Palazzolo Acreide, Sortino, Melilli, and Lentini. In Manfredonia, two explosions were used to target a Banca Popolare di Milano ATM, prompting investigations by local police and firefighters to secure the area. Authorities are currently analyzing surveillance footage to identify the perpetrators behind these coordinated nighttime raids.
