Italy extends poisoned bait ban and updates PNRR infrastructure laws

Italy has implemented several legislative updates regarding environmental protection and infrastructure funding. The Ministry of Health has extended the ban on the use and possession of poisoned baits for twelve months. This measure aims to protect public health, wildlife, and the environment by preventing the intentional or negligent use of toxic substances in rural and peri-urban areas.

While supporting the ban on illegal activities, the organization Coldiretti has called for clear operational guidelines to ensure that legitimate professionals, such as farmers and researchers, are not penalized. They emphasize that authorized substances like phytosanitary products, biocides, and analytical samples must be clearly distinguishable from illicit materials through proper documentation and context.

Additionally, Law No. 152, published in the Official Gazette, has converted Decree-Law 107/2026 into law. This legislation provides urgent provisions for infrastructure interventions and the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), alongside further urgent financial measures.
