Italy Extends Tax Credit for Agricultural Diesel to June‑July
The Italian government issued a decree on 27 July to implement a tax credit for agricultural fuel, covering diesel and gasoline purchases made between 1 March and 31 May 2026. The credit, worth up to 20 % of eligible expenses, is funded with a total allocation of €90 million and is intended to offset the surge in fuel costs for farms.
The Confederazione Italiana Agricoltori (CIA) has called for an immediate legislative amendment to prolong the credit through June and July 2024 and to keep the compensation mechanism in place until 2027. CIA stresses the need for rapid disbursement to preserve liquidity and production continuity in the sector. Operational guidelines are awaited from AGEA, the agency tasked with managing the programme.
The measure, supported by Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti, aims to sustain agricultural activity amid an ongoing energy‑price crisis.
