Italy faces rising costs in food and automotive sectors
In Italy, rising costs are impacting both food security and automotive purchasing. Recent data indicates a nearly 30% increase in the cost of a standard weekly grocery basket over the last five years, with significant price hikes for staples like vegetables and olive oil.
Pediatrician Italo Farnetani has suggested dietary adjustments to manage these rising costs while maintaining child nutrition. His recommendations include reducing meat consumption to three or four times per week and increasing the intake of bluefish to provide a more sustainable and balanced protein source.
In the automotive sector, Chinese manufacturer BYD has launched a marketing campaign in Italy titled ‘Decreto BYD’. Despite the political phrasing, the initiative is a private commercial promotion rather than a government decree. The campaign offers up to 11,600 euros in benefits for customers who trade in a used vehicle for a model from the Super Hybrid DM-i range.
