Italy focuses on longevity through research and wellness initiatives
Recent research and regional initiatives in Italy are highlighting a shift in how aging and longevity are perceived and managed. A study titled ‘Human After All’ by Hearts United, conducted by Doxa on 2,000 Italians, reveals a growing gap between chronological age and perceived age. The findings show that 49% of Italians identify as ‘Ageless,’ feeling younger than their actual years, while 51% are ‘Mindful’ regarding the aging process. Notably, 26% of Italians aged 25 to 34 are already considering aging.
In response to Italy being Europe’s oldest nation, the Val di Fiemme region in Trentino is positioning itself as a ‘Wellness Community.’ During the sixth Dolomiti Wellness Community Summit, experts emphasized that longevity depends on managing emotional stress, proper nutrition, physical activity, and respecting circadian rhythms. The project aims to use the region's environment to create a model for healthy living, focusing on detoxification from toxic environments and sustainable development to improve both resident and visitor health.
