Italy focuses on renewable energy and strategic planning for security
Italy is facing a strategic imperative to accelerate its transition to renewable energy to ensure national autonomy and security. Climatologist Luca Mercalli argues that increasing domestic renewable production is essential to reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels and mitigate exposure to international market fluctuations and geopolitical crises.
At the 48th Andaf National Congress, titled ‘Energy and Talent, engines of the future,’ leaders discussed the intersection of long-term energy planning and human expertise. The event included participation from government representatives, such as Minister for the Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto Fratin and Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti. Agostino Scornajenchi, President of Andaf, emphasized that energy stability is the result of long-term strategic choices and the legacy of professional talent, requiring resilient planning to ensure future stability.
