Italy Food Drive: National Food Collection Day set for November 14

The national Food Collection Day (Colletta Alimentare) is scheduled for November 14, marking the 30th edition of the initiative. The event aims to collect long-lasting food items, such as pasta, oil, tuna, and canned tomatoes, to support individuals and families in need.

In Lucca, the Banco Alimentare is seeking volunteers to assist at various retail locations. Local coordinator Marcello Lippi noted that the organization has previously collected approximately 32 tons of food through a network of 32 volunteer associations. The municipality has provided a warehouse near Lucca Plus to facilitate the collection and distribution of goods.

In the Brescia region, provincial coordinator Enrico Baruzzi reported that approximately 3,000 volunteers will be deployed across 250 supermarkets. All food collected in Brescia will remain in the province to benefit 112 local associations. The Banco Alimentare operates nationally, supporting over 1.7 million people through more than 3,600 partners.
