Italy fuel prices show divergent trends for gasoline and diesel

Fuel prices in Italy show divergent trends as of October 18, 2026. According to data from the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, self-service gasoline prices saw a decrease, dropping from 2.2030 euros to 2.029 euros per liter. However, diesel prices on motorways experienced a slight increase, rising from 2.296 euros to 2.298 euros per liter.

In the Calabria region, market dynamics vary by province. Following the end of excise duty discounts, diesel prices have risen above the 2.20 euro threshold in many areas, though 16% of distributors in the region—primarily in Reggio Calabria, Vibo Valentia, and Crotone—still offer diesel below this mark. Gasoline remains more affordable for consumers, with approximately 46% of distributors in Calabria selling it for less than 2 euros per liter, a figure that reaches 51% in the province of Cosenza.
