Italy funds archival digitisation in Ravenna and archaeology events in Castiglione della Pescaia

The Italian Ministry of Culture allocated an additional €10,000 in 2026 to the Franco Torre photographic archive in Ravenna, supporting its preservation, digitisation and metadata work on nearly 3,000 photographs. The collection, donated by the Fondazione Casa di Oriani, will become freely accessible through the national cultural heritage catalogue.

In Castiglione della Pescaia, the municipal council and the Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio held a full‑day conference on 20 December 2025 to promote archaeological research and site restoration. Local and national scholars presented findings on sites such as Vetulonia, the Roman villa at Paduline, and the Badia Vecchia Etruscan‑Roman site, with the event backed by the mayor Elena Nappi and cultural officials.

Both initiatives illustrate ongoing public investment in Italy’s cultural heritage, enhancing research access and community awareness.
